  What a rain! It was pouring on the day we visited Magnetic Island on 17 February 2023. Despite that, ferry trips taking the car in and out were excellent bumpy ride though. The rain didn’t stop us completing the walking trail. Definitely a place to visit again

  Maggie Island is a true gem nestled off the coast of Townsville. Famed for its picturesque bays, lush national parks, and serene beaches, it's the perfect getaway for anyone looking to embrace Australia's natural beauty. The island boasts a laid-back vibe, making it an ideal spot for relaxation, but there's also no shortage of activities for the more adventurous spirits. With its myriad of walking trails, snorkelling spots, and unique wildlife encounters, there's something for everyone. The local community is warm and inviting, often leaving visitors with a strong desire to return. While some may argue it's becoming a tad more commercial, its charm remains undiminished. A must-visit when in the region!

  The island boasts the biggest gathering of koala bears in the world, totalling some 800. There is ample opportunity for walks, drives, beach activities and places to stay as well.
  
  There is so much to do, I suggest you plan to spend 2-3 nights on the island. We brought our own vehicle which was useful as we could then traverse the island at our own pace.
  
  There are some breathtaking views at almost every point on the island. There are bars and restaurants as well as beaches and coves in which you can relax.
  
  Sights, smells and sounds are captivating and while probably not unique to the island, are quite amazing. As I found throughout Australia, the people are friendly and welcoming.

  Beautiful place, lots of stuff to do.. we did the forts walk and managed to spot a koala

  We re-walked the Fort walking trail as we wanted to see koalas. We started earlier this time and saw the sunrise. Koala seen around 7.15am just getting cosy for his tree. Super cute.
  
  More photos showing good walking paths and stairs. Remember to take a hat and water with good walking shoes.

  Beautiful place. Hire yourself a scooter and buzz around the island.
